Entertainment pundit and critic, Tilly Akua Nipaa, has taken to social media to educate the blockheaded and agenda-filled so-called entertainment journalist, DJ Slim, on Spotify’s annual data summary for 2025.
The Swedish audio streaming and media service released comprehensive data which details the performances of musicians who have subscribed to their services.
This report has sparked significant discussions in the Ghanaian music industry, as industry gatekeepers debate the title of “Most Ghanaian Export Artist.”
The intensity of the conversation is centred on the omission of Stonebwoy’s name from the list of Ghanaian artists who under the year of review have their music was played outside the Ghanaian jurisdiction.
Despite being labelled the most travelled artist, Stonebwoy could not reach the final 10 artists whose songs were played internationally and received significant reactions.
In the heat of social media debate, DJ Slim jumped in with an episode of “Street Is Watching” podcast, stating emphatically that it’s ignorant for anyone to make a mockery of Stonebwoy for not making the Spotify Most Ghanaian Musical Export.
According to DJ Slim, the number of shows played by artists in the year of the review should be the metric for measuring artists’ performance, but not just a mere digital statistic.
He publicly undermined the statistical analysis provided by the Swedish audio and media service, Spotify.
While his video was generating attention on social media with netizens registering their diverse opinions on the matter, Tilly Akua Nipaa, with the big brain, shot DJ Slim for his incomprehension of the Spotify wrap data.
Tilly schooled DJ Slim in a well-detailed article while advising the entertainment host to stop shifting the goalposts when it does not favour his artist.
Oh, DJ Slim, Spotify’s most exported is not about artist who travels or who plays shows the most outside, it’s simply about artists with the most outside streaming numbers on the platform.
Spotify doesn’t research Shows, festivals, or the money you are collecting, and no one is downplaying those but let’s not keep shifting the goal post when it doesn’t favor your favorite.
And by the way, if it didn’t matter, like the charting on DSPs won’t be on his artist year sheet.
The big question you should be asking is how all those things you speak of don’t reflect on the numbers from out there?
I am sure you would have equally jubilated if he made the list, so please let’s stop shifting the goalposts.
