Ghana Police Returns a Found Bag Containing Ghs85,000 To It’s Owner

The Ghana Police Service in a statement has communicated that it has returned a found bag containing Ghs85,000 to it’s owner. 

In the press statement, the Police emphasized that the found money was received by the Bono East Regional Police Command on February 14, 2026 at approximately 4:20pm by a patrol team at the Snap Check Point on the Techiman-Kumasi highway.

As stated by the police, the bag, full of bundles of money may have fell from a moving vehicle. The bag bore the name “Ofori” and a phone number written on it.

After the contact number on the bag was called, a 53 years old businessman from Ashtown in the Ashanti Region who identified himself as Stephen Ofori answered.

Stephen Ofori later made himself available at the check point to claim ownership of the bag. According to Ofori, an amount of Ghs85,000 which was sitting in the bag was being transported from GCB Bank, Wa to Kumasi via commercial vehicle.

After the police had verified the amount in the presence of the Mr. Stephen Ofori, after a satisfactory explanation and upon further verification, the money was released to him.

The Ghana Police Service has therefore commended its officers and the community members who had found the money along the road and called the attention of the police.
